Healthy teeth and gums give you a nice smile and make you feel good about yourself. We provide a range of preventive and restorative dental services aimed at protecting your teeth and gums, and handling dental problems like cavities, gum disease, and missing teeth.
Do you want to keep your teeth for the rest of your life? You can if you practice good oral hygiene and come see Dr. Tew every six months. We provide a range of preventive dental services aimed at keeping your teeth and gums in great shape. You maintain your good oral health by preventing cavities and gum disease from forming, or by detecting them early so you can get them handled before they do extensive damage to your teeth.
Good oral health begins at home with daily brushing and flossing. This removes the sticky film that forms on your teeth called plaque. Plaque is a layer of bacteria which release acids that harm your tooth enamel and cause cavities and gum disease. Brushing and flossing regularly keeps your breath fresh and gives you healthy teeth and gums.
The preventive dental procedures provided by our office include:
Comprehensive Dental Exam:
Your teeth, gums, and mouth are thoroughly examined by Dr. Tew for signs of cavities or disease. By detecting these problems early, we can treat them before they do major damage.
While home brushing is very important, getting your teeth cleaned professionally every six months will remove plaque and tartar (hardened plaque) that brushing at home can’t remove, including below the gum line. Your teeth will feel and look their cleanest.
You need to have X-rays taken periodically so we can see any hidden problems forming inside your teeth or below the gum line. Early detection means you will have a smaller dental problem to treat. This will save you money and keep your teeth healthy.
The bacteria which grow on your teeth produce acids which eat at your tooth enamel. This is the source of cavities. Fluoride treatments help protect your teeth from the acids produced by bacteria, reducing your risk of getting cavities.
A dental sealant is a plastic material applied to the chewing surface of your molars. This seals the nooks and crannies of your molars and helps prevent bacteria from forming cavities. Sealants may be recommended if you have a high risk of developing cavities.
Solutions for Missing and Worn Teeth
Missing teeth can make you feel miserable about your smile. Badly damaged teeth can make eating more difficult. You can get your smile back and have a healthy set of teeth. Dr. Tew can repair your damaged teeth and replace missing teeth so your smile no longer has gaps.
Dental implants are one of the best solutions for replacing your missing teeth. You can have a single tooth replaced, or several, or an entire upper or lower set of teeth. You can get your smile back and eat any foods you want.
Dental implants have several advantages over older methods of replacing missing teeth:
- Implants don’t slip like dentures can. They are firmly attached to your jawbone, letting you eat hard foods.
- Implants can last a lifetime, unlike a dental bridge which needs to be replaced periodically.
- Dental implants don’t require altering the adjacent teeth, unlike a bridge which requires placing a crown on each side for support.
- Implants prevent bone loss in your jaw caused by missing teeth.
The implant is a small, titanium post which we attach to your jawbone. This post acts like the root in your natural teeth—it holds the tooth in place. We attach a crown (the artificial tooth) to the post and you have a permanently attached replacement tooth.

All-on-4 Dental Implants
Are you one of the nearly 40 million Americans who are missing all their teeth? You now have another choice, other than traditional dentures, for replacing your missing teeth. You may be a candidate for a dental implant procedure called All-on-4.
All-on-4 works just like any other dental implant—we attach titanium posts to your jawbone to anchor your replacement teeth. In most cases, four implants will be enough. We attach a temporary set of teeth to the posts, allowing you to eat normally while the implants heal. Just avoid chewing hard foods at first to give the implants time to start healing.
Once the implants are fully healed, we attach your new permanent set of teeth and you now have a fully functioning set of teeth again.
Another option for replacing your teeth is implant-supported dentures or snap-on dentures. These are similar in some ways to All-on-4 implants, but implant-supported dentures are not permanently attached like All-on-4 dental implants.
For implant-supported dentures, we place six or eight mini dental implants into your jawbone. These implants have a metal ball attachment which fits into a socket on the denture. The denture snaps onto the implant and is held in place more firmly than traditional dentures.

We use crowns to repair teeth that are too badly damaged from decay or injury to fill. The crown adds strength to the tooth so it doesn’t break when you bite or chew. Crowns are made of porcelain, resin or ceramic materials which are made to look like your natural teeth.
A dental bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth. A bridge can be removable or fixed. A fixed bridge requires carefully grinding down the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth so crowns can be placed over them. The replacement tooth is permanently attached to the two crowns which are, in turn, attached to the adjacent teeth.
Dentures have been the solution to missing teeth for hundreds of years. While they are not as ideal as a natural set of teeth, they do provide you with a nice smile and allow you to eat and speak.
Before & Afters
Solutions for Yellow Teeth
It’s natural that over time our teeth become less white. They become stained and discolored from foods, beverages and tobacco. Our in-office whitening process is a safe way to restore the brightness of your smile. You will see immediate results!

Solutions for Cavities
Dental fillings are used to repair your tooth where the damaged enamel was removed. Decades ago, dentists used metal fillings for cavities, but nowadays we use a tooth-colored resin material for fillings that blends well with your natural teeth.
Solutions for Tooth and Jaw Pain
We do everything we possibly can to save your teeth and keep them healthy. But sometimes a tooth has become too damaged from injury or cavities to be saved. In this case, the tooth must be removed or extracted. Also, wisdom teeth often need to be extracted because they don’t grow in properly, causing you pain and swelling in your jaw.
This is a special custom-made mouth guard you wear while sleeping. It protects your teeth from the excessive wear and tear caused by grinding your teeth while you sleep.
